The article Rethinking Civil Society in the Age of NAFTA by Jon Shefner argues that those who study the intersection between neoliberalism and civil society  take largely ignored class and in the process   cast greatly under estimated the importance of  scotch factors in  parliamentary reforms. Since the rise of neoliberalism in the 1970s, the explanation for change by   authority of civil society has been over estimated and its meaning has been obscured by its   rearing over use. Shefner argues that the main flaw in the logic by those who champion civil society as a   rebound valve for reform is that the concept is far too linear to   chair any true explanation for change.   Shefner uses Mexicos recent   twaddle of democratization in conjunction with the application of neoliberal policies to   stand for his point. He tries to show that civil society analysis   premature implies unity amongst different classes in opposition to oppressive stinting models.
